Hiking & Fun in Madrid – Guadarrama “Embalse de la Jarosa”

Let’s discover the other fun side of Madrid together by visiting these incredible places with local and international people living in Madrid. You can practice other languages and enjoy nature.

This route will begin in the historic town of Guadarrama, whose name derives from “Uad-er-ramel” (river of sand in Arabic), founded during the Muslim occupation of the Peninsula. We will enter a beautiful pine forest, where we will feel the energy of nature surrounding us while enjoying the amazing views and fresh air. Spring is coming and the flowers begin to bloom. On our colorful trail, we will see the remains of the Hermitage of San Macario, the only vestige of the town of La Herrería, which disappeared during the 17th century. Finally we will arrive at the well-known La Jarosa reservoir/lake with impressive views.

In the middle of the tour, we will have a picnic to rest, eat and enjoy the area and begin our return.

This is an easy/medium level route, suitable for everyone!
